All the same, every tackle box should have some few basic fishing equipment.

This article lists the basic fishing equipment to carry on your fishing trip.

List of Fishing Equipment (1)

1. Fishing Rod

The fishing rod is a light, long, and slender pole made of strong but pliable material.

When combined with a fishing line and fishing reel, it allows you to cast the line far into the water.

Fishing rods basically vary deepening on the type of fishing you intend to do. They are commonly made of fiberglass or graphite.

2. Fishing Line

The fishing line is the cord connecting the hook to the fishing rod and fishing reel. It allows you to cast your hook and bait far out in the water.

Fishing lines vary in length depending on how far in the water you want to fish.

3. Fishing Reel

A fishing reel is like a spool that turns on an axis for winding the fishing line. It’s usually attached to the bottom of some fishing rods and on the top of others.

4. Fishing Hook

The fish hook is the device that snags the fish so you can reel it in. Fishing hooks come in different shapes, sizes, design, and materials depending on the type of fish you are angling on.

5. Baits and Lures

Bait is what you attach at the end of the line to lure the fish. It must be something that fish love eating.

Natural baits may include worms as well as fish eggs.

Lures are artificial baits that are designed to look and move just like things fish love to eat. They include grasshoppers, worms, flies, minnows, including others.

They vary in price and sophistication.

6. Sturdy Leader

A sturdy leader is a wire or a monofilament that is more heavy and abrasion-resistant than the fishing line.

It connects the end of the line to the bait and hook and is used to protect the fishing line from breaking or being bitten especially if you are reeling in a larger fish.

7. Floaters and Sinkers

Sinkers are weights used to drop lures quickly to the bottom of the water.

Floaters (also known as bobbers or corks) hold the fishing line closer to the water surface to prevent the entire line from sinking to the bottom.

8. Swivel

The swivel comes in handy when you’re using bait or lure that has a twisting or turning action that tends to get the fishing line twisted.

It allows the bait or lure to spin without getting the fishing line tangled up.
